How I Work

Marilyn runs her own private practice providing Counselling/Psychotherapy and Supervision. She is experienced in working with women, men, children/young people, adults, couples and families of all ages, ethnicity, backgrounds, and sexuality, who bring a range of issues, questions and concerns.

She offers weekly therapy to individuals and couples and supervision to Counsellors, Psychotherapists, and Social Care Workers. Whether you are thinking of coming to therapy at a time of crisis, or to understand more fully what is happening in your life, talking with a therapist can be very helpful. Marilyn believes that challenges provide opportunities for change, growth, and transformation. She will provide a safe and confidential space and support you to explore thoughts, feelings, and beliefs that may affect the way you think about and relate to yourself and others.

Main areas of work

Stress, depression and anxiety, low self esteem/confidence, work related stress, relationship difficulties, separation and loss, child and family related issues, domestic violence, bereavement, trauma, emotional abuse, long term impact of sexual abuse, self harm, suicidal thoughts, cultural issues, identity sexuality, supervision.

Specialist expertise in supporting women who have experienced domestic violence/abuse; extensive experience of working therapeutically with children/young people/families around relationship issues, and the impact of physical, sexual, emotional abuse.

Training / Qualifications

  • MSc in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Systemic Practice with Families and Couples
