A quarter of my places on a ‘pay what you can afford’ basis
I am an accredited UKCP psychotherapist, with an MA in Mindfulness-based Core Process Psychotherapy.
I start from where you are – what you are wanting, where you are struggling – and we follow this thread, exploring with curiosity and compassion the places of confusion, and stuckness.
My role is to get alongside you and understand the world from your unique point of view. It is essential that you feel deeply heard and understood. At the same time, I bring a curious, authentic spirit; I will enquire and sometimes challenge you, in a caring way, as this is what genuine relationship involves.
One way I work which differs from some other models is that you are also invited and supported, at times, to sense what is happening for you in the present moment? What feelings, sensations & impulses are around as you explore your thoughts? By dropping into the felt sense of things, understanding and insight can emerge, which might not be available by purely analysing or conceptualising.
I am a culturally responsive therapist, recognising that my heritage and identities will differ from yours. I recognise that how you view and experience the world will be in part based on your cultural heritage, race, gender, class, sexuality, age, etc. and this may be an important part of what you are coming to therapy for. As part of this, I have been exploring issues of marginalisation, privilege, and power, through attending trainings, ongoing groups and reading.
Procrastination and wanting to shift this; difficulty making decisions; lack of meaning, relationship with food; body-image; physical or sexual abuse as a child; discrimination and oppression related to sexuality, race, gender, class; an inner critical voice; anxiety and worry; struggles in relationships; feelings of depression
