Building Blocks: An 8-day Intermediate Groupwork Training

 

This 8-day training will take place in-person at North London Group Therapy, Holloway, and builds on the foundations of our Introduction to Therapeutic Groupwork course.

Taking place over 4 months, with up to 16 participants, the course will provide a mix of therapeutic groupwork theory, significant opportunities for supervised group facilitation practise and a reflective space to progress your own journey as a therapeutic group facilitator.

Course content will include:

  • Setting up therapeutic groups and group formation
  • Fostering dialogue, contact and connection
  • Addressing rank, difference and tackling oppression 
  • Working in the here & now with inter-personal group process
  • Dealing effectively with conflict, aggression, apathy and silence
  • Facilitator styles, choices, interventions, boundaries and use of self

Booking: The course is suitable for qualified counsellors and therapists and allied professionals who facilitate groups or plan to in the future, who have completed an Introduction to Therapeutic Groupwork with NLGT/Tim Foskett.

10.30 - 5.30 pm each day.

Cost:  Earlybird: Full cost £1300 payable in instalments. Deposit to book your place is £325. To qualify for the Earlybird rate book your place before 1st October 2025. 

Thereafter full cost is £1500.

Discounted bursary places available for therapists from marginalised or under-represented groups.

We want to make a contribution to tackling under-representation in the therapy sector, and to creating a more representative group therapy profession in the long-run.  As a result we have a couple of significantly discounted places available on Building Blocks 2026.

Tim Foskett is a group psychotherapist who has been working extensively with groups for over 30 years in a range of different contexts. He draws from humanistic, integrative, body-centred and psychodynamic models, and works creatively, interactively and responsively to the needs of the group.  Tim Foskett is an accredited Psychotherapist, a Relationship therapist, Trainer, Supervisor and 5 Rhythms™ dance teacher. He trained at City University, PHYSIS and Spectrum, within a Humanistic - Integrative framework, and more recently has been studying Modern Analytic Group Therapy. He is a director of North London Group Therapy, and currently runs several ongoing therapy groups including Therapy Therapy, a group for counsellors and therapists, and a fortnightly Supervision Group, Touchstone.
